Carnegie Reopening FAQ

Q: When will the Carnegie reopen?

A: The Carnegie will reopen on Thursday, May 14th at 10:00 a.m.

Q: How many people can be in the building at one time?

A: Ten people including staff are allowed in the building at a time. 

Q: Do I need to wear a mask or face covering?

A: Carnegie staff will be wearing masks and we please ask our patrons to also wear masks or face coverings.

Q: Do I need to maintain social distancing measures?

A: Yes, you need to maintain the CDC social distancing guidelines which incudes being six feet apart from other people and maintaining proper handwashing techniques. We will have tables set up with hand sanitizer as you enter the building and we ask that you use that on the way in. We will have signs indicating the six feet mark at the front desk.

Q: Can I check out books?

A: Yes! You can check out all books including bestsellers and YA books on the honor system. You just need to tell us (from six feet away!) how many books you have. Please do not hand books to employees. 

Q: Can I use a computer?

A: Yes! You will be able to use a computer. The number of computers has been reduced due to social distancing so there will be a limit of 30 minutes on a computer if someone is waiting to get on or to get in the building if we have exceeded maximum capacity. If you need technical help please call out to the front desk and they can help you via our messaging system. We will not be able to offer one on one technology help during this time.

Q: Can I make copies, faxes & scans or get a document notarized?

A: At this time we are not doing copies, faxes, scans or notarizing. 

Q: Can I print?

A: Yes, you may print documents but you must pay with exact change in cash.  

Q: Can I donate books?

A: We are not currently accepting book donations. 

Q: When will programs start back up?

A: Our virtual programming will continue but in-person programming is currently postponed. 

Q: Can I rent the meeting rooms?

A: Meeting room rentals are currently postponed.

Q: Can I use the Children’s room?

A: The Children’s room is temporarily closed. 

Q: Can I read a newspaper or magazine?

A: Due to sanitizing concerns, magazines and newspapers are not currently available.
