Volunteering at the Carnegie!
We love our Carnegie Library volunteers! They help us make the library more welcome and enjoyable for our wonderful patrons. We love the enthusiasm and passion they bring to the library.
We are always looking for more volunteers to join the Carnegie Library family! We have the following volunteer positions available.
Story Time Volunteer (weekly during the school year September – May) The story time volunteer arrives at 9:30 to help set up the room and help with craft preparation. At 9:45 parents and children arrive, volunteers read with children, help to make sure the families have signed in and children get a name tag. Volunteers join in the singing, games and may read a story to the children. Volunteers help set up the craft and instruct children and parents how craft is made. Volunteers help serve snacks. Story time ends at approximately 11:00. Volunteers help clean up and put meeting room back in order. Story time schedule: 9:30-9:45 Set up 9:45-10:10 Family reading time 10:10-10:40 Stories, songs, & games 10:40-11:00 Craft and snack 11:00-11:30 Clean up
Craft prep Volunteer - Available to cut out or prep items for story time crafts.
Children’s Movie Volunteer - Stay in meeting room while movie is playing, pop microwave popcorn and refill cups, adjust volume if necessary.
Adult Movie Volunteer - Stay in meeting room while movie is playing, pop microwave popcorn and refill cups, adjust volume if necessary.
Room set up - Set up meeting rooms with chairs and/or tables for movies, story time or other functions.
Adopt-A-Shelf - Choose a shelf or shelves to monitor on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Put items back in order. Alert staff about damaged books.
Scrapbook Assistant - Check Newnan Times-Herald and other publications for articles about the Carnegie. Cut out and place items in scrapbook.
Materials Processor - Stamp books with Carnegie Building identification. Affix spine labels and spine label covers. Cover books as needed. Shelve processed books.
Program Assistant - Assist with adult programming preparation. Set up – room arrangement, set out sign in sheets, display flyers of upcoming programs, calendars, prepare refreshment table as needed. May introduce speaker and deal with sound system. Clean up – make sure tables are cleared of food trash, clean up refreshment table, arrange room for next program, vacuum if necessary.

We have a wonderful volunteer luncheon in November to say a special thank youto everyone who gave us their time.
