This Week at the Carnegie: June 25th-30th


This week we have so many great events and programs at the Carnegie. Please call 770-683-1347 to register for these programs in advance. Remember all programs at the Carnegie Library are open to the public and free of charge.

Monday

Literary Circle 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.—The Carnegie Library’s book club meets monthly to discuss the book of the month. This month’s selection is The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien.

Exercise is Medicine 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. -- EIM is a circuit cardio alternating safe and easy to follow low-impact aerobics with strength conditioning. Elastic tubing with handles is used for resistance training and core strengthening. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program includes “move and learn” activity designed to offer those of all ages with chronic diseases the cardio-strength-flexibility and balance training needed to safely improve chronic health condition symptoms.

Crochet 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. -- This class is designed for beginners as well as more advanced. If you want to learn the basics and make a lap robe then bring one crochet hook - size “h” - and one 7 ounce skein of “Red Heart” yarn. For all levels of skill. Instructor, Judy Davenport, teaches the basics and will guide through any trouble spots. For experienced, please bring your current crochet project.

Tuesday

Rock Painting 10:00 a.m.to 11:00 a.m.-- Come to the Carnegie Library and paint rocks using our design ideas or your own. Participants can “hide” them around downtown or take them home! All materials will be provided.

Intro to Photography 2:30-3:30 p.m.-- A practical, hands on photography class covering the basics of DSLR photography. We will cover the exposure triangle, the importance of light and do some hands on photographing. This class will be taught by photographer, Susan Crutchfield. Limited to 20 participants! Wednesday

Family Movie Day 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. It's Movie Day at the Carnegie! Bring your family and friends to watch Coco. Refreshments will be provided. call for reservations. Space is limited.

Gentle Yoga 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.-- This class is designed for adults & seniors of all levels of physical ability. Instructor, Yvette Monet, guides in stretching & strengthening muscles. Helps you to gain flexibility & balance and relieve stress.

Thursday

Dr. Magical Balloons 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.-- The Carnegie presents Dr. Magical Balloons. Come and see the different balloon creations that he can make.

Young Adult Stop Motion Film 4:00-5:30 p.m.-- The Carnegie Library presents A Stop Motion film Series for Young Adults ages 11 and up. Learn to plan and make stop motion films with our Stik-Bot studio and iPad! Sessions will include story-boarding, team film making, and a showing of our completed short films! The dates of these sessions will be June 12th, June 28th, July 12th and July 26th. Space is limited and reservations for this class are required.
