This Week at the Carnegie: July 23-27!


This week we have so many great events and programs at the Carnegie. Please call 770-683-1347 to register for these programs in advance. Remember all programs at the Carnegie Library are open to the public and free of charge.

Monday

Literary Circle 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.— The Carnegie Library’s book club meets monthly to discuss the book of the month. This month’s selection is The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan

Exercise is Medicine 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. -- EIM is a circuit cardio alternating safe and easy to follow low-impact aerobics with strength conditioning. Elastic tubing with handles is used for resistance training and core strengthening. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program includes “move and learn” activity designed to offer those of all ages with chronic diseases the cardio-strength-flexibility and balance training needed to safely improve chronic health condition symptoms.

Crochet 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. -- This class is designed for beginners as well as more advanced. If you want to learn the basics and make a lap robe then bring one crochet hook - size “h” - and one 7 ounce skein of “Red Heart” yarn. For all levels of skill. Instructor, Judy Davenport, teaches the basics and will guide through any trouble spots. For experienced, please bring your current crochet project.

Tuesday

Family Craft Day 10:00 a.m.to 11:00 a.m.-- We will be making a bird feeder out of recycled materials including soda bottles, wire, and wooden spoons. All materials are provided. Snacks will be provided. Spaces are limited.

Cosplay DIY 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.-- The Carnegie Library presents DIY Cosplay. Join us to learn tips and tricks for do-it-yourself cosplay. We will be building Justice LEague themed bracers out of on-hand materials, and discussing ways to build cosplay components cheap! Ages 14 and up. Space is limited. Wednesday

Lego Day Invention 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Atlanta Brick Co. will be on site facilitating structured activities for all ages. Children are invited to play, create, and explore the Lego world! Reservations are required and can be made one week in advance.

Gentle Yoga 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.-- This class is designed for adults & seniors of all levels of physical ability. Instructor, Yvette Monet, guides in stretching & strengthening muscles. Helps you to gain flexibility & balance and relieve stress.

Book Club with Lola 3:30 p.m. -4:30 p.m. Lola, a registered therapy dog, and her handler, Ms. Pam provide a free fifteen minute, private reading exercise for elementary and middle school aged students. Registration required.

Thursday

Southeastern Reptile Rescue 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.-- Come to the Carnegie and learn about different species of reptiles and conservation from Southeastern Reptile Rescue.

Stop Motion Film Earp Up 4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. – The Carnegie Library presents A Stop Motion film Series for Young Adults ages 11 and up. Learn to plan and make stop motion films with our Stik-Bot studio and iPad! Four sessions will include story-boarding, team film making, and a showing of our completed short films! Space is limited and reservations for this class are required.

Friday

Instagram for Adults 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. – Are you looking for a new way to connect with family and friends? Learn how to use Instagram to keep in touch with loved ones and share photos! BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Class limit 20. Please note that Instagram can only be used from a smart phone. Class space is limited so registration is required, please call 770-683-1347
