This Week at the Carnegie: August 27th-31st


This week we have so many great events and programs at the Carnegie. Please call 770-683-1347 to register for these programs in advance. Remember all programs at the Carnegie Library are open to the public and free of charge.

Monday

Exercise is Medicine 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. -- EIM is a circuit cardio alternating safe and easy to follow low-impact aerobics with strength conditioning. Elastic tubing with handles is used for resistance training and core strengthening. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program includes “move and learn” activity designed to offer those of all ages with chronic diseases the cardio-strength-flexibility and balance training needed to safely improve chronic health condition symptoms.

Crochet 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. -- This class is designed for beginners as well as more advanced. If you want to learn the basics and make a lap robe then bring one crochet hook - size “h” - and one 7 ounce skein of “Red Heart” yarn. For all levels of skill. Instructor, Judy Davenport, teaches the basics and will guide through any trouble spots. For experienced, please bring your current crochet project.

Tuesday

As the Page Turns 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. The Carnegie Library is proud to present As the Page Turns a new afternoon book club. The book club will meet monthly and read books from a variety of genres. The first book will be Skyfaring: A Journey with a Pilot by Mark Vanhoenacker. Vote on future books at the first book club meeting! Wednesday

Gentle Yoga 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Please join the Carnegie for Gentle Yoga with Yvette! Instructor, Yvette Monet will guide adults & seniors at all levels of physical ability in stretch & strengthen muscles exercises. Gain flexibility & balance and relieve stress. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes. All equipment provided or bring your own mat.

Thursday

Medicare 101 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. The Carnegie Library hosts Medicare 101 for a Medicare Educational Workshop. Medicare 101 will explain how Medicare works and what to expect with each of the plan options. They will discuss the elements of Medicare Parts A and B, Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C), Part D Prescription Drug Plans and Medicare Supplements (Medigap). Learn how to verify if your doctor accepts the plan, how to calculate your prescription costs for the year and how company agents and independent brokers are compensated. The Carnegie will be hosting three opportunities for this workshop on August 30th and September 6th & 13th. This is an educational event. Seats are limited.
