This Week at the Carnegie: November 5th-9th


This week we have so many great events and programs at the Carnegie. Please call 770-683-1347 to register for these programs in advance. Remember all programs at the Carnegie Library are open to the public and free of charge.

Monday

Exercise is Medicine 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. -- EIM is a circuit cardio alternating safe and easy to follow low-impact aerobics with strength conditioning. Elastic tubing with handles is used for resistance training and core strengthening. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program includes “move and learn” activity designed to offer those of all ages with chronic diseases the cardio-strength-flexibility and balance training needed to safely improve chronic health condition symptoms.

Crochet 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. -- This class is designed for beginners as well as more advanced. If you want to learn the basics and make a lap robe then bring one crochet hook - size “h” - and one 7 ounce skein of “Red Heart” yarn. For all levels of skill. Instructor, Judy Davenport, teaches the basics and will guide through any trouble spots. For experienced, please bring your current crochet project.

Tuesday

Health Happiness and Harmony: Mattering 6:00-7:00 p.m.-- The Carnegie is excited to again host the Health Happiness and Harmony series. Join Community Psychologist Dr. Louis Boynton, Ph.D., LPC, for a discussion on MATTERING: A Journey of Self Discovery. Mattering is an interpersonal experience that people need in order to develop a healthy self image and rewarding life. An important predictor in life outcomes, Mattering is a key factor in feeling connected to ourselves and others. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is required for this program. Wednesday

Gentle Yoga 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.-- This class is designed for adults & seniors of all levels of physical ability. Instructor, Yvette Monet, guides in stretching & strengthening muscles. Helps you to gain flexibility & balance and relieve stress.

Children’s Author “Blob Farley” 3:30-4:30 p.m.-- Join us at the Carnegie for a book signing and book reading from “Blob Farley”. This newly released book by Christy Johns is about a blobfish who seeks adventure and makes new friends along the way. In addition to the Christy Johns book reading, there will also be prizes and educational information about sea life given. Thursday

Preschool Story Time 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.-- A fun time of singing, dancing, reading, crafting, and learning! There’s always a little silliness too. This is a program that requires pre-registration. Please visit https://www.newnancarnegie.com/story-time for more program information and guidelines.

Holiday Sip & Read 5:00-8:00 p.m.-- Join downtown Newnan in welcoming the holiday season with the annual Holiday Sip-and-See. The Carnegie will be celebrating with games, refreshments and book giveaways! Free of charge!

Parakeets in Whitesburg 2:30-3:30 p.m.-- Parakeets in Whitesburg is the fourteenth book authored by Carla Cook Smith. This book serves as the epilogue to the infamous 1948 murder in Coweta County and offers newly discovered information and photographs, most of which has not previously been published. Join us at the Carnegie as Carla Cook Smith discusses her new book! Registration is requested for this program.
