This Week at the Carnegie--May 20-24


This week we have so many great events and programs at the Carnegie. Please call 770-683-1347 to register for these programs in advance. Remember all programs at the Carnegie Library are open to the public and free of charge.

Monday

Literary Circle 11:30-12:30 p.m. The Carnegie Library hosts Carnegie Literary Circle, our morning book club. This month's book is A Peculiar Tribe of People by Richard Jay Hutto. Please note that this months book club will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Mama Lucia's in Ashley Park. Reservations required, please call 770-683-1347.

Exercise is Medicine 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. EIM is a circuit cardio alternating safe and easy to follow low-impact aerobics with strength conditioning. Elastic tubing with handles is used for resistance training and core strengthening. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program includes “move and learn” activity designed to offer those of all ages with chronic diseases the cardio-strength-flexibility and balance training needed to safely improve chronic health condition symptoms.

Crochet 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. This class is designed for beginners as well as more advanced. If you want to learn the basics and make a lap robe then bring one crochet hook - size “h” - and one 7 ounce skein of “Red Heart” yarn. For all levels of skill. Instructor, Judy Davenport, teaches the basics and will guide through any trouble spots. For experienced crocheters, please bring your current crochet project.

Tuesday

Carnegie Walking Club 9:00-10:00 a.m. The Carnegie Walking Club will meet at various parks and walking trails around Newnan. Please check our Facebook page for each weeks meeting location. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring water! This week we will be meeting at First Avenue Park 24 1st Avenue Newnan, GA 30263.

Beading with Elizabeth 2:30-4:00 p.m. The Newnan Carnegie Library presents Beading with Elizabeth: Suncatcher. Join us and make a copper wire suncatcher to celebrate the return of spring! All materials are provided. This class is full.

Wednesday

Gentle Yoga 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. This class is designed for adults & seniors of all levels of physical ability. Instructor, Yvette Monet, guides in stretching & strengthening muscles. Helps you to gain flexibility & balance and relieve stress.

Medicare 101 2:30-3:30 p.m. The Carnegie Library hosts Medicare 101 for a Medicare Educational Workshop. Medicare 101 will explain how Medicare works and what to expect with each of the plan options. They will discuss the elements of Medicare Parts A and B, Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C), Part D Prescription Drug Plans and Medicare Supplements (Medigap). Learn how to verify if your doctor accepts the plan, how to calculate your prescription costs for the year and how company agents and independent brokers are compensated. The Carnegie will be hosting two opportunities for this workshop on May 9th & 24th. This is an educational event. Seats are limited.
