This Week at the Carnegie: 9/30 - 10/4


October is here! While the temperatures may not be cooler, all of the fall fun is coming. We have some great programs planned for October, so plan now to come enjoy a program at the Carnegie! All programs at the Carnegie are open to the public and free of charge. Preschool story time is for pre-registered children only.

Monday

Exercise is Medicine: 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

EIM is a circuit cardio alternating safe and easy to follow low-impact aerobics with strength conditioning. Elastic tubing with handles is used for resistance training and core strengthening. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program includes “move and learn” activity designed to offer those of all ages with chronic diseases the cardio-strength-flexibility and balance training needed to safely improve chronic health condition symptoms. Certified instructors from Piedmont Newnan Wellness Center provide forty-five minutes of gentle therapeutic exercises. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. All equipment provided.

Crochet at the Carnegie: 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This class is designed for beginners as well as more advanced. If you want to learn the basics and make a lap robe. Bring one crochet hook - size “h” - and one 7 ounce skein of “Red Heart” yarn. This class is for all levels of skill. Instructor, Judy Davenport, teaches the basics and will guide through any trouble spots. For experienced knitters, please bring your current crochet project.

Tuesday

Unfortunately due to filming and traffic detours in the area, we have decided to cancel The Other Night School: Reading in the Renaissance on Tuesday, October 1. Wednesday

Gentle Yoga 1:30 p.m.— 2:30 p.m.

Please join the Carnegie for Gentle Yoga with Yvette! Instructor, Yvette Monet will guide adults & seniors at all levels of physical ability in stretch & strengthen muscles exercises. Gain flexibility & balance and relieve stress. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes. All equipment provided or bring your own mat.

Writing Workshop with Alex & Angela McRae: 3:00 to 4:45 p.m.

The Carnegie Library hosts a series of Writing Workshops with authors, Alex & Angela McRae. The workshops will teach the writing process from brainstorming to publishing. These sessions in October will build on each other. Registration is required for this program. Please call 770-683-1347 or register online at http://newnancarnegie.eventbrite.com. All programs at the Newnan Carnegie are offered free of charge.

Thursday

Preschool Story Time with Ms. Teri: 10:00-11:30 a.m.

Storytime with Ms.Teri is every Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15. The fall session has started and is for pre-registered children only. Stay updated on the fun on our FB and Instagram pages!

History Through Storytelling: 2:30 to 4:00 p.m.

Join Dr. Allen as he shares little known historical facts through the art of storytelling. Dr. Allen uses a variety of maps and artifacts to engage listeners of all ages. He will be telling stories about Georgia in the antebellum time period. He will also discuss the history of the naming of Newnan. Registration is requested.

Friday
