Are We Open? & Other FAQs

Yes! We are open and excited to see you! We do have guidelines in place to keep both you and Carnegie staff safe. Before visiting, please take a look at our list of FAQs or watch our informational video. While you may not be able to see our smiling faces behind our masks, we are happy you are here!

Carnegie Reopening FAQ (effective June 15, 2020)
Q: What hours is the Carnegie going to be open?
A: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Wednesday: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Q: Do I need to wear a mask or face covering?
A: Carnegie staff will be wearing masks and we please ask our patrons to also wear masks or face coverings.
Q: Do I need to maintain social distancing measures?
A: Yes, you need to maintain the CDC social distancing guidelines which includes being six feet apart from other people and maintaining proper handwashing techniques. We will have tables set up with hand sanitizer as you enter the building and we ask that you use that on the way in. We will have signs indicating the six feet mark at the front desk.
Q: Can I check out books?
A: Yes! You can check out all books! Please remember your library card to check out bestsellers, DVDs, YA and special collection books.
Q: Can I use a computer?
A: Yes! You will be able to use a computer. The number of computers has been reduced due to social distancing so there will be a limit of 30 minutes on a computer if someone is waiting to get on. If you need technical help we will be able to offer this from six feet away.
Q: Can I make copies, faxes & scans or get a document notarized?
Q: Can I print?
A: Yes, you may print documents and pay with cash or credit cards. We will be sanitizing all credit cards before and after use for the protection of patrons and staff.
Q: Can I donate books?
A: We are currently accepting book donations of no more than 30 books.
Q: When will programs start back up?
A: Our virtual programming will continue and in-person programming will return soon. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for updates.
Q: Can I rent the meeting rooms?
A: Yes. You can put in a meeting room rental inquiry by clicking here. Meeting room rentals will be available during regular business hours of Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will be limited to groups of 35.
Q: Can I use the Children’s room?
A: The children's room is currently closed. The Atlanta Zoo has temporarily suspended their free ticket program.
Q: Can I read a newspaper or magazine?
A: Due to sanitizing concerns, magazines and newspapers are not currently available.
