This Week at the Carnegie: Feb. 10-14

It’s the week of love! Practice self care with one our exercise classes, help your child fall in love with reading in Book Club with Lola, or find a new hobby to enjoy! There are so many unique ways to celebrate! While you are visiting, let us know what you love about the Newnan Carnegie by filling out a heart for our window display.


Program dates, times, and descriptions are below. Please visit Eventbrite to register for programs in advance unless otherwise noted. All programs at the Carnegie are open to the public and free of charge.


Monday

Exercise is Medicine: 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

EIM is a circuit cardio alternating safe and easy to follow low-impact aerobics with strength conditioning. Elastic tubing with handles is used for resistance training and core strengthening. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program includes “move and learn” activity designed to offer those of all ages with chronic diseases the cardio-strength-flexibility and balance training needed to safely improve chronic health condition symptoms. Certified instructors from Piedmont Newnan Wellness Center provide forty-five minutes of gentle therapeutic exercises. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. All equipment provided. No need to RSVP, come as able! Attendees are admitted on a first come, first serve basis. A waiver will need to be signed at your first class.



Crochet at the Carnegie: 1:30 p.m. to 4: 00 p.m.

This class is designed for beginners as well as more advanced. If you want to learn the basics and make a lap robe. Bring one crochet hook - size “h” - and one 7-ounce skein of “Red Heart” yarn. This class is for all levels of skill. Instructor, Judy Davenport, teaches the basics and will guide through any trouble spots. For experienced knitters, please bring your current crochet project. Drop in as able, no need to RSVP!



Tuesday

Introduction to Bridge: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Lois Bruning will teach a beginner’s course on how to play Bridge. All supplies provided, and no partner is needed. Participants are required to attend all 6 sessions. Session dates are as follows: January 7, 14, 21, & 28 and February 4 & 11. They will last one hour, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. No one will be added after the first class. This program is currently full.



Wednesday

Gentle Yoga: 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Please join the Carnegie for Gentle Yoga with Yvette! Instructor, Yvette Monet will guide adults & seniors at all levels of physical ability in stretch & strengthen muscles exercises. Gain flexibility & balance and relieve stress. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes. All equipment provided or bring your own mat. No need to RSVP, come as able! A waiver will need to be signed at your first class.



Book Club with Lola: 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Lola, a registered therapy dog, and her handler, Ms. Pam provide a free fifteen-minute, private reading exercise for elementary and middle school aged students. Don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity to improve your child's reading confidence and skills! Registration is required. Please call 770-683-1347 to register.



Thursday

Card Making: 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Surprise your loved ones with a handmade card for Valentine's Day, crafted by you! Hands on instruction and all supplies will be provided. While the program is free, registration is limited and required. This program is currently wait-listed. To be added to the wait-list, please click here.
