This Week at the Carnegie:Jan 6-10 First Blog of the New Year!


It’s a brand-new year! Whether you hope to start exercising, learn something new, read more, or begin a new hobby – you can find it all at the Newnan Carnegie! Monday

Exercise is Medicine: 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

EIM is a circuit cardio alternating safe and easy to follow low-impact aerobics with strength conditioning. Elastic tubing with handles is used for resistance training and core strengthening. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program includes “move and learn” activity designed to offer those of all ages with chronic diseases the cardio-strength-flexibility and balance training needed to safely improve chronic health condition symptoms. Certified instructors from Piedmont Newnan Wellness Center provide forty-five minutes of gentle therapeutic exercises. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. All equipment provided.



Crochet at the Carnegie: 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Join the Carnegie Library on Mondays for Crochet at the Carnegie! If you are a beginner please bring one crochet hook - size “h” - and one 7-ounce skein of “Red Heart” yarn. Instructor, Judy Davenport, teaches the basics and will guide through any trouble spots. For experienced crocheters, bring your current project. Please call 770-683-1347 to reserve your spot or drop in as able! You do not have to stay for the entire time or come weekly.



Tuesday

Intro to Bridge: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Lois Bruning will teach a beginners course on how to play Bridge. All supplies provided, and no partner is needed. Participants are required to attend all 6 sessions. Session dates are as follows: January 7, 14, 21, & 28 and February 4 & 11. They will last one hour, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. No one will be added after the first class. Wednesday

Gentle Yoga: 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Instructor, Yvette Monet, guides adults & seniors of all levels of physical ability. This class stretches and strengthens muscles and provides mild cardio. Gain flexibility & balance and relieve stress. Please wear comfortable clothes & shoes. All equipment provided or bring your own mat. Call 770-683-1347 to reserve your spot or drop in as able! A waiver will need to be signed at your first class.


Book Club with Lola: 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Lola, a registered therapy dog, and her handler, Ms. Pam provide a free fifteen-minute, private reading exercise for elementary and middle school aged students. Registration required. Please call 770-683-1347 for more information or to register.



Thursday

DIY Designs: Rustic Book Stacks: 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Incorporate your love of books into your home design with this fun DIY! Create your own set of rustic book stacks with your choice of words and embellishments. All supplies provided. Newnan Artist in Residence Program Presents:

Still-Life Painting Demonstration with Patrick Saunders: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Join us for a still life demo by painter Patrick Saunders, our January 2020 artist in residence. Saunders creates fine art while traveling across North America in an Airstream with his photographer wife, Kimberly. He has recently been featured as the cover artist in Southwest Art Magazine and has won best-of-show awards from numerous nationally recognized competitions across the United States.
