Monday

Tuesday

 

As the Page Turns 3:30-4:30 p.m. The Carnegie Library is proud to present As the Page Turns, our afternoon book club. The book club will meet the fourth Tuesday of the month and read books from a variety of genres. This months book is The Reckoning by John Grisham. Reservations requested. Health Happiness and Harmony: Mattering in the New Year 6:00-7:00 p.m. Please join The Carnegie Library for Mattering in the New Year, the next program in the Health, Happiness and Harmony series. Community Psychologist Dr. Louis Boynton, Ph.D., L.P.C. continues the discussion on the biological, psychological and social importance of Mattering. Meet the New Year with steps to improve your Social Intelligence, fortify your sense of self and develop a healthy set of Social Practices for 2019. Light refreshments served. Wednesday

 

Exercise is Medicine 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. -- EIM is a circuit cardio alternating safe and easy to follow low-impact aerobics with strength conditioning. Elastic tubing with handles is used for resistance training and core strengthening. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program includes “move and learn” activity designed to offer those of all ages with chronic diseases the cardio-strength-flexibility and balance training needed to safely improve chronic health condition symptoms.

 

 

Gentle Yoga 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm— This class is designed for adults & seniors of all levels of physical ability. Instructor, Yvette Monet, guides in stretching & strengthening muscles. Helps you to gain flexibility & balance and relieve stress.

Book Club with Lola 3:30-4:30 p.m. Lola, a registered therapy dog, and her handler, Ms. Pam provide a free fifteen minute, private reading exercise for elementary and middle aged students. Registration required, please call 770-683-1347.

 

 

Thursday

Preschool Story Time 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.-- A fun time of  singing, dancing, reading, crafting, and learning! There’s always a little silliness too. Photography for Business 2:30-4:00 p.m. -- Photography for Business will cover how to enhance your business and marketing efforts through photography. This class will be taught by photographer Susan Crutchfield. Registration is required and space is limited. NCLF program: Hannah Palmer “Flight Path” 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.-- Hannah Palmer presents “Flight Path: A Search for Roots Beneath the World’s Busiest Airport" at the Carnegie January 26th!

The Jewel in Georgia’s Crown is indisputably the world’s busiest airport, Atlanta’s Hartsfield/Jackson International, and will be the focus of a new author event at the Carnegie on Saturday, January 26 at 11:00 am. Author, urban designer and native of southside Atlanta, Hannah Palmer, will dissect the evolution of the airport and its environs, both good and bad, in her extensively researched urban history memoir, Flight Path: A Search for Roots Beneath the World’s Busiest Airport.”

This event is part of the Edgar B. Hollis Distinguished Speaker Series sponsored by the Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation. A book signing will follow the presentation.
