This Week at the Carnegie: May 6-10

This week we have so many great events and programs at the Carnegie. Please call 770-683-1347 to register for these programs in advance. Remember all programs at the Carnegie Library are open to the public and free of charge.

 

Monday

 

Exercise is Medicine 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. EIM is a circuit cardio alternating safe and easy to follow low-impact aerobics with strength conditioning. Elastic tubing with handles is used for resistance training and core strengthening. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program includes “move and learn” activity designed to offer those of all ages with chronic diseases the cardio-strength-flexibility and balance training needed to safely improve chronic health condition symptoms.

 

 

Crochet 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. This class is designed for beginners as well as more advanced. If you want to learn the basics and make a lap robe then bring one crochet hook - size “h” - and one 7 ounce skein of “Red Heart” yarn. For all levels of skill. Instructor, Judy Davenport, teaches the basics and will guide through any trouble spots.
For experienced, please bring your current crochet project.

 

 

Tuesday

 

Health Happiness Harmony: Fed Up Documentary 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Please join the Carnegie Library and Health Happiness and Harmony for a special movie night. From the Oscar-winning producer of "An Inconvenient Truth" comes a film the food industry doesn't want you to see. There will be a ninety minute documentary screening with brief discussion to follow. Wednesday

Gentle Yoga 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm— This class is designed for adults & seniors of all levels of physical ability. Instructor, Yvette Monet, guides in stretching & strengthening muscles. Helps you to gain flexibility & balance and relieve stress.

Book Club with Lola 3:30-4:30 p.m. Lola, a registered therapy dog, and her handler, Ms. Pam provide a free fifteen minute, private reading exercise for elementary and middle aged students. Registration required, please call 770-683-1347.

 

 

 

Thursday

 

Preschool Story Time 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.-- A fun time of  singing, dancing, reading, crafting, and learning! There’s always a little silliness too. Medicare 101 2:30 p.m. -3:30 p.m. The Carnegie Library hosts Medicare 101 for a Medicare Educational Workshop. Medicare 101 will explain how Medicare works and what to expect with each of the plan options. They will discuss the elements of Medicare Parts A and B, Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C), Part D Prescription Drug Plans and Medicare Supplements (Medigap). Learn how to verify if your doctor accepts the plan, how to calculate your prescription costs for the year and how company agents and independent brokers are compensated. The Carnegie will be hosting two opportunities for this workshop on May 9th & 24th. This is an educational event. Seats are limited. Cultivate Growth Leadership Series 3:00-4:30 p.m. Oasis of Serenity Counseling and Consulting Services is offering the CULTIVATE Growth Leadership Series to share valuable principles that are certain to bring about growth. These facilitated series of training offer a combination of masterminding, peer brainstorming, education, accountability and support in a group setting to sharpen your business and personal skills. By bringing fresh ideas and a different perspective, these series of personal and leadership development training can help you achieve your uniquely defined success. This is the second session of this series but we still do have space left. Please plan to attend the rest of the sessions on June 14th and July 12th.
