This Week at the Carnegie: June 10-14!

This week we have so many great events and programs at the Carnegie. Please call 770-683-1347 to register for these programs in advance. Remember all programs at the Carnegie Library are open to the public and free of charge.

 

Monday

 

Exercise is Medicine 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. EIM is a circuit cardio alternating safe and easy to follow low-impact aerobics with strength conditioning. Elastic tubing with handles is used for resistance training and core strengthening. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program includes “move and learn” activity designed to offer those of all ages with chronic diseases the cardio-strength-flexibility and balance training needed to safely improve chronic health condition symptoms.

 

Crochet 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This class is designed for beginners as well as more advanced. If you want to learn the basics and make a lap robe then bring one crochet hook - size “h” - and one 7 ounce skein of “Red Heart” yarn. For all levels of skill. Instructor, Judy Davenport, teaches the basics and will guide through any trouble spots.
For experienced, please bring your current crochet project.

 

Tuesday

 

Walking Club 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The Carnegie Walking Club will meet at various parks and walking trails around Newnan. Please check this Facebook event discussion for this weeks location. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring water! Registration is requested, please call 770-683-1347.

 

Mr. Damon Puppet Show 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Join the Carnegie for a new kind of theater experience using handmade shadow puppets. Damon Young is the Lead Teaching Artist at the Center for Puppetry Arts, a Teaching Artist for the Georgia Council for the Arts, and Fulton County School’s Teaching Museum. He has been working with kids and theater over 10 years. This program is full.

 

Young Adult Puppet Workshop 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Please join the Carnegie Library and Mr. Damon's Shadow Puppet Theater for a Young Adult Puppetry Workshop. For ages 12-18. Join Mr. Damon and learn to make your own puppets, write skits and put on a performance! Wednesday

Gentle Yoga 1:30 pm to 2:30 p.m. This class is designed for adults & seniors of all levels of physical ability. Instructor, Yvette Monet, guides in stretching & strengthening muscles. Helps you to gain flexibility & balance and relieve stress.

 

Book Club with Lola 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. The Newnan Carnegie Library hosts Book Club with Lola! Lola, a registered therapy dog, and her handler, Ms. Pam provide a free fifteen minute, private reading exercise for elementary and middle school aged students. *Registration required.* Please call 770-683-1347 to register.

Cirque du Todd 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. It’s a wacky, witty, one-of-a-kind performance! Cirque du Todd combines juggling, circus skills, a little magic, and just the right mix of comedy and reading encouragement. This program is full.

 

Young Adult Juggling Workshop 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.  Join us for a juggling tutorial with Todd Key! This is a YA program for ages 12 and up. Todd Key is a one man club throwing, ball spinning, ladder balancing, torch manipulating, comedy EXTRAVAGANZAPALOOZA! Hometown Novel Night 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Hometown Novel. Nights is spreading its wings and adding Newnan to its schedule of interactive Author Panel presentations. Book enthusiasts, aspiring authors, and the curious of all ages are welcome. Doug Vinson Sharon Harrington Howard and Scott Ludwig are successful published authors from Coweta County. Cultivate Growth Leadership 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oasis of Serenity Counseling and Consulting Services is offering the CULTIVATE Growth Leadership Series to share valuable principles that are certain to bring about growth. These facilitated series of training offer a combination of masterminding, peer brainstorming, education, accountability and support in a group setting to sharpen your business and personal skills. By bringing fresh ideas and a different perspective, these series of personal and leadership development training can help you achieve your uniquely defined success. This is the second session of this series but we still do have space left. Please plan to attend the rest of the sessions on June 14th and July 12th.
