This Week at the Carnegie: July 22-27

Monday

 

Literary Circle 9:30-11:00 a.m. The Carnegie Library’s book club meets monthly to discuss the book of the month. This month’s selection is People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks.

 

Exercise is Medicine 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. EIM is a circuit cardio alternating safe and easy to follow low-impact aerobics with strength conditioning. Elastic tubing with handles is used for resistance training and core strengthening. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program includes “move and learn” activity designed to offer those of all ages with chronic diseases the cardio-strength-flexibility and balance training needed to safely improve chronic health condition symptoms.

 

 

 

Crochet 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This class is designed for beginners as well as more advanced. If you want to learn the basics and make a lap robe then bring one crochet hook - size “h” - and one 7 ounce skein of “Red Heart” yarn. For all levels of skill. Instructor, Judy Davenport, teaches the basics and will guide through any trouble spots.
For experienced, please bring your current crochet project.

 

 

Tuesday

 

Dr. Magical Balloons 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Join us as Doc takes us on a space adventure!

Gentle Yoga 1:30 pm to 2:30 p.m. This class is designed for adults & seniors of all levels of physical ability. Instructor, Yvette Monet, guides in stretching & strengthening muscles. Helps you to gain flexibility & balance and relieve stress.

 

 

 

Book Club with Lola 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. The Newnan Carnegie Library hosts Book Club with Lola! Lola, a registered therapy dog, and her handler, Ms. Pam provide a free fifteen minute, private reading exercise for elementary and middle school aged students. *Registration required.* Please call 770-683-1347 to register.

 

 

 

Thursday

 

Barry Mitchell 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Barry Mitchell has over thirty years experience entertaining families. His shows include a unique mix of humor, magic, and puppetry. He has traveled the world presenting his show to children. Christmas in July 2:30-4:00 p.m. Please join the Carnegie for Christmas in July. We will be making festive origami Christmas tree ornaments to use on our tree over the holiday season. We will make one for our tree, and you can take one for your tree. All supplies provided. All ages are welcome!
