This Week at the Carnegie: August 5-9

Monday

 

Exercise is Medicine 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. EIM is a circuit cardio alternating safe and easy to follow low-impact aerobics with strength conditioning. Elastic tubing with handles is used for resistance training and core strengthening. The Exercise is Medicine (EIM) program includes “move and learn” activity designed to offer those of all ages with chronic diseases the cardio-strength-flexibility and balance training needed to safely improve chronic health condition symptoms.

 

 

 

Crochet 2:00 p.m. to 4 p.m. This class is designed for beginners as well as more advanced. If you want to learn the basics and make a lap robe then bring one crochet hook - size “h” - and one 7 ounce skein of “Red Heart” yarn. For all levels of skill. Instructor, Judy Davenport, teaches the basics and will guide through any trouble spots.
For experienced, please bring your current crochet project.  

 

 

Tuesday

 

AARP Driver Safety Program 9:30-4:00 p.m. Contact Jesse Johnson at 678-485-0655 to register. Cost is $15 for AARP members, $20 for non-members. All ages welcome, minors must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Wednesday

Gentle Yoga 1:30 p.m.— 2:30 p.m.  Please join the Carnegie for Gentle Yoga with Yvette! Instructor, Yvette Monet will guide adults & seniors at all levels of physical ability in stretch & strengthen muscles exercises. Gain flexibility & balance and relieve stress. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes. All equipment provided or bring your own mat.

 

 

Thursday

 

Hometown Novel Nights 6:30-8:00 p.m. Hometown Novel Nights feature author panels each month introducing book-loving audiences to the blossoming number of published authors who reside South of Atlanta. What could be better than talking about books in a family-friendly atmosphere? The Carnegie Library will host the Hometown Novel Nights in Newnan on Thursday, August 8th at 6:30 p.m. Joining the author panel will be Paul Sinor, Angie Gallion Lovell, and Toby Nix. Sponsored by Southern Fried Books and Corner Arts Gallery, Studio & Gift Shop. Hosted by Newnan Carnegie Library. Learn about the authors, their writing journey, and their books. Books will be available to be purchased and signed during the event. Moderator, T. M. National Book Lovers Day 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. – Help us celebrate National Book Lovers Day by joining us for a book swap! Please bring at least one book to swap with the group.
