Silent Book Club is a global community of readers with nearly 2,000 chapters in 60+ countries. There's no assigned reading — it's bring your own book!

Their chapter that serves Newnan and Coweta County meets in various locations across libraries, breweries, and coffee shops. Our meetings at the Newnan Carnegie Library are the first Wednesdays of the month from 3:00pm-4:30pm on the 2nd Floor of the building. We will always include a time to socialize/discuss our latest reads and a dedicated reading hour where you choose what you would like to read at your leisure.

Lunch & Learn: Jennie Manget Logan: A Life of Service and Resilience

Please join the Carnegie Library and the Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation for a talk and presentation by Jill Evans, President Emerita of the Atlanta Writers Club, on the life and work of Jennie Manget Logan. Born in Marietta, with two brothers who settled in Newnan, Jennie spent many years as a nurse abroad. In 1918, she and her physician husband were called from their medical missionary work in China to Red Cross service for the American Expeditionary Forces. In one year, she went from warlord ruled China to winter in Siberian Russia to Europe with the Czechoslovak Legion to a summer in Newnan and back to China. Through it all – war, disease and personal tragedy – Jennie displayed remarkable determination and resilience.

***Registrants are invited to bring their own lunch to the event. Doors open at 11:30 am. Program begins at 12 noon sharp and ends at 1:00 pm.

Journey to Calm

Please join the Newnan Carnegie Library and Sarah Leatherman as we go on a journey of sound healing. We will begin with a few minutes of gentle movement to help relax you, then work through some guided breath-work practices to help center and focus the mind, followed by an immersion of sound allowing you to drift into a meditative state. Relaxation and focusing on the sound can have a calming effect, bring you more into the present moment, and help to create a deeper relationship with Self. Instruments you will experience include crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls, gongs, koshi chimes, seed chimes, and thunder sticks.

**Participants are welcome to bring props or yoga mats to sit or lay on. Some supplies will be available for use.
