Murder in Coweta County

Please join the Newnan Carnegie at the Wadsworth Auditorium as we show the classic film, Murder in Coweta County, a local and fan favorite, starring Andy Griffith and Johnny Cash.

In 1948, in rural Georgia, Coweta County is watched over by its legendary, indomitable Sheriff Lamar Potts (Johnny Cash). No felony had ever gone unsolved while Sheriff Potts was in charge. In the next county over though, there is a vast estate known as "The Kingdom". It's ruled by one man, John Wallace (Andy Griffith), whose power is absolute and beyond the law. When Wallace chases one of his underlings to deliver ruthless punishment, he makes a critical mistake. He crosses over into Coweta County....Sheriff Potts' territory. This is the compelling true story of the man who ran the Kingdom and the man who brought him down.

***The film is NOT RATED, however it does contain frightening and intense scenes, alcohol and smoking, violence, profanity, and nudity.

FREE movie, FREE popcorn, FREE theater experience! Don't miss out! Doors open at 6pm.

Hometown Novel Writers Association: Writers Workshop

Please join us and special guest Jill Evans, president of the Atlanta Writers Club and a trustee of the Carnegie Library, as she discusses research and how it’s not just for non-fiction or historical fiction. Jill started, and stopped, a degree in architecture before switching to computer science. After a career as a software engineer, where she worked on projects for clients including El Al Israel Airlines and Japan Airlines, she returned to her creative roots to pursue writing. She believes wholeheartedly in education and community and proudly serves with the Atlanta Writers Club board to bring excellent programing to Atlanta and the wider region. She loves art, architecture and history and writes fiction, both contemporary and historical.

This session will give you the sources and methods to improve your writing, whatever your genre. You will learn how to approach research for character, plot, and setting (interiority vs. sensory), as well as techniques and resources for crafting the best details.

**All writers are welcome!
