Aimee Miller is continuously inspired by the endless possibilities of surfaces, materials, and their relationship to paint. While she often takes references from nature, structures that exist in both exterior and interior spaces inform my work. As Aimee's practice evolves, she experiments with techniques that reflects her interest in textiles and surface design. Join Aimee as she discuss how it began to influence her relationship with the canvas, not literally at first, but through patterns, textures, and a layered approach to surface. She realized that textiles, like paintings, are built through process: weaving, dyeing, and unraveling which currently mirror my methods of layering paint, manipulating it in dried form, and reworking the surface.
